The directors of CKB Estate Agents put pedal to the metal for the Make-A-Wish children’s charity and took on the ever popular London to Brighton cycling challenge, one of the most famous cycling challenges in the UK. Cengiz and Kemal arrived at Clapham Common, the morning of race day along with 4000 other riders and started their cycle at 6:50am. They were put to the test with the great British Countryside and took on the challenging ascent of the Ditchling Beacon (an incline many would love to forget). Though this separated the pair for a while, Kemal made it ¾ of the way up before throwing in the towel whilst Cengiz came off before he could gain enough momentum to even make the start complaining about quadricep cramps and had to walk his way up to the top battling against the rain and wind. At the top, 248 metres above sea level, a quick Lucozade to restore the energy and back onto the saddle for the final, finishers glide into Brighton seafront where they were welcomed by a ram packed finish line with supporters, announcers and friends and family. Cengiz said “it was truly a memorable experience that went to a great cause. It was a lot harder than expected and I did start to ask myself why did I sign up for this whilst I was walking up the Ditchling Beacon, soaking wet, cold and cramping up like never before but when you’re approaching the finish line you understand why. It was great, so much support and overall a great experience”
Kemal shared the same feedback and quoted “it was a great day of cycling through the Countrywide of East Sussex and even better that we did it for a good cause. Our philosophy is simple, alongside giving our clients a first class service we always like to roll up our sleeves and give something back to local community projects, schools and charities that benefit from our help. We love to help wherever we can and will continue to do so. I’m keen to see what Cengiz decides to sign me up to next ha-ha”.
